Point of sale
A barbershop POS with no hardware to buy.
Ring up a skin fade and a tin of pomade on one ticket. The client scans a QR code and pays on their own phone. The money goes to your Stripe account, and we take none of it.

The card reader is their phone
Ring the sale up, show the QR code, and the client scans it and pays on their own phone. There is no terminal to buy, no dock to charge, and nothing to replace when it stops holding a charge two Decembers from now.
We take 0% of the ticket
Not the a skin fade, not a tin of pomade, not the tip. One flat monthly price, and the money settles into your own Stripe account rather than a platform balance you wait to be paid out of.
Services and retail on one ticket
Add a skin fade and a tin of pomade to the same sale, set quantities, and take one payment. Prices are resolved on our server, not in the browser, so a ticket cannot be edited into something cheaper on the way to the card.
Every line knows who sold it
Each item on the ticket is attributed to the barber who sold it, which is what makes commission splits and booth-rent bookkeeping a report rather than an argument at the end of the month.
What taking a payment looks like
1Build the ticket
Pick the services and products. Quantities, multiple barbers, one total.
2They scan and pay
A QR appears on your screen. They scan it, pay on their phone, and choose a tip if you left tipping on.
3It lands in your account
The sale is recorded against the right person and the money goes to your own Stripe account.
Against a typical barbershop POS
Written at the level of the business model rather than any one rival’s price list, because their prices change and this page does not.
| What it costs you | Clientara | A typical POS |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware to buy | None — your screen, their phone | A reader, often a full terminal |
| Cut of each sale | None — 0% | A percentage of every transaction |
| Cut of tips | None | Often inside their cut |
| Where the money lands | Your own Stripe account | Their balance, paid out on their schedule |
| Sales by staff member | On every line, included | Commonly a higher tier |
| What it costs | From $19.99/mo, flat | Subscription, plus hardware, plus processing |
Clientara takes 0%. Stripe’s standard card fee still applies, as it does on every platform — on Clientara the client-facing price absorbs it, so you collect your full set price.
What it does not do
Most POS pages find out you needed something only after you have paid for a year. Here is what Clientara has no answer for today.
- Stock counts. The catalogue holds names, SKUs and prices, but it does not track how many tins are on the shelf.
- A cash drawer. Card only, through Stripe — cash taken in the shop is yours to record however you already do.
- Sales tax calculation. You get revenue and units by week, month and year to file from; the page does not work out the rate for you.
- Barcode scanning, and any till receipt printer.
If live stock levels are the reason you are shopping, buy something else — we would rather say that now than take a year of your money first.

Questions
Do I need a card reader to use Clientara as a barbershop POS?
No, and there is not one to buy. You build the ticket on your phone or a tablet and a QR code appears; the client scans it and pays on their own phone. That is the whole checkout, and it works the same whether you are behind the counter or at a chair.
Do you take a percentage of retail sales or tips?
No. Clientara takes 0% of services, products and tips on every plan — it is a flat monthly subscription. Stripe’s standard card processing fee still applies, as it does on every platform; on Clientara the client-facing price absorbs it, so you collect your full set price.
Can I sell a service and a product in the same sale?
Yes. One ticket takes a skin fade and a tin of pomade together, with quantities, and each line is attributed to whoever sold it. That attribution is what the sales report and any commission split are built on.
Does it track my inventory?
Not yet. You can keep a catalogue with names, SKUs and prices and see units sold per period, but Clientara does not hold a stock level or warn you when something runs low. If live inventory is the reason you are shopping for a POS, this is not the right tool today.
What does a barbershop pay?
From $19.99 a month for a single operator. A barbershop renting chairs pays $39.99 for the shop, and each barber pays $15.99 for their own seat on their own card. A commission shop pays $149.99 flat and the team pays nothing. Every plan includes the point of sale.
